Mwenye Adaptation and Resilience Initiative
Mwenye Adaptation and Resilience Initiative (MARI) is a community-based disaster risk reduction approach to resilience and adaptive capacity building. MARI highlights the voiced needs of the community and works to resolve them through local knowledge and innovation workshopping and specialist facilitation to achieve sustainably resilient outcomes.
Objectives
Improve resilience to the increasingly extreme weather patterns through emergency provision and long term sustainable strategies for environmental adaptation.
Program design based on community innovation, and led by key community stakeholders
Comprehensive access to clean and safe water
Improved agricultural resilience and food security that includes natural methods of conservation and ecological consideration to mitigate impacts of disasters

This report outlines our approach to our work in the field. A practical realisation of community-based disaster risk reduction research. This report paves the way for an inclusive and sustainable approach to future projects. These types of community consultations will be ongoing throughout our time working in the region and beyond.
